Although, nearly everyone, who, either, is elected, selected, and/ or, ascends to a position of leadership, proclaims, his aim, is to make a significant difference, for the better, after, over four years of personal involvement in most areas of leading, including, identifying, qualifying, training, developing, and consulting to thousands of actual, and/ or potential leaders, I have come to realize, this often, is not the end – result! The overall process, planning, actions, attitude, aptitude/ skill – set, and self – confidence, of an individual, often distinguishes between a quality leader, and the rest – of – the – pack. Truly, great leaders, consider options and alternatives, in a well – considered manner, and proceed, proactively, to help their groups, FLOURISH. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, why this matters, and, some significant factors, towards achieving this objective.

1. Faithful; future; fruition: A true leader, is always, faithful to the best interests of his organization, and stakeholders, and, because of his actions, earns the trust of those, he serves and represents, and, they have far more faith, in his approaches, and ideas! It’s essential to look at the bigger – picture, and avoid, convenient, short – term plans. Instead, quality leadership is about the impacts on the future, and, what one does, to bring his ideas, into fruition!

2. Listen; learn; leadership: No one has all the answers, and, therefore, it is essential to take the time, and make an effort, to effectively listen, and learn from every conversation, and experience. Isn’t that what genuine leadership, should be, all – about?

3. Options; opportunities; organized: There are generally, several options and alternatives, and it’s important to consider these thoroughly, in a well – considered manner, in order to be prepared to take advantage of the finest opportunities, for your specific group! When an individual, proceeds in an organized way, he becomes more efficient and effective, and, thus capable, of making a difference, for the better!

4. Urge; useful; unique: What unique qualities, and/ or, abilities, to you possess, which might make you, a more useful leader? If you hope to lead, get ready, and willing, to urge others, to follow you, and your strategy, towards a finer future!

5. Relevant; reliable: You can’t improve things, if you don’t provide relevant planning, and direction! Great leaders are, and, are perceived as, being reliable, and, worth, following!

6. Imagination; innovate; ideology; ideas: One needs a well – developed, relevant imagination, in order to innovate, in a meaningful way, and introduce ideas, which align with the core ideology, of the organization!

7. Service; sustainable; solutions: The main priority of a real leader, must be to provide the finest service, which brings forth, sustainable, viable solutions, which address current challenges, while understanding ramifications, for the future!

8. Healing; head/ heart: Since a leader must attempt to be healing, and unifying, he must use, both, his well – developed, logical, as well as, emotional components, in a, head/ heart balance!

If you want to be a leader, don’t rely on rhetoric, but, rather on ideas, which will help your group FLOURISH, to the best of its potential! Are you up to the tasks?
